Refund & Cancellation Policy
Your money is held in escrow until you confirm you were served. If a split is cancelled or does not go through, you get back the full amount you paid, including any processing fee, and we process the refund within 48 hours.
1. How payment works
DiscountSplit is operated by Scepterix SMC-Private (Limited). When a card owner accepts your request, you pay in one of two ways:
- Digital payment (escrow): you pay by card, wallet or bank transfer through our licensed payment partner. The money is held, not sent to anyone, until the card owner has paid the bill and you confirm. Only then is the card owner paid and DiscountSplit's fee taken.
- Cash at a partner restaurant: you pay your share in cash at the counter of a DiscountSplit partner merchant.
The app shows the exact amount you will pay, and any processing fee, before you pay.
2. Cancelling a request
| When you cancel | What happens |
|---|---|
| While we are still searching for a card owner | Cancel any time in the app. Nothing is charged. |
| After a card owner accepts, before you pay | Cancel in the app. Nothing is charged. |
| After you pay into escrow, before the card owner pays the bill | Cancel in the app. You get a full refund, processed within 48 hours. |
| After the card owner has paid the bill and uploaded the receipt | The request can no longer be cancelled, because the card owner has spent their own money. If something is wrong, reject the receipt (section 4). |
| After you confirm | The split is complete and the payment is final, except in cases of fraud (section 5). |
3. Automatic refunds
You do not need to ask for a refund in these cases. The app handles it and notifies you.
- The card owner does not show up. If a card owner accepts but you have not paid yet, and they do not go ahead within 30 minutes, the request is cancelled and nothing is charged. If you have paid into escrow and the card owner does not pay the bill within 60 minutes, the request is cancelled and you get a full refund.
- The merchant refuses or reduces the discount. If the merchant does not honour the card offer, the card owner reports it and the app shows you the revised amounts. You can accept them, or cancel for a full refund.
4. Rejecting a receipt and disputes
After the card owner pays the bill, they upload the merchant's receipt and you are asked to confirm. If something is wrong, tap Reject receipt and choose a reason:
- Wrong amount
- Receipt looks fake
- Wrong merchant
- Service not received
- Other (please describe)
The payment stays frozen while we review. Both users can upload evidence, such as photos or messages. Our team then either refunds you in full or releases the payment to the card owner, and tells you both the outcome. We aim to resolve disputes within 5 working days.
If you neither confirm nor reject within 24 hours of the receipt being uploaded, the payment is released to the card owner automatically. We remind you 6 hours and 1 hour before this happens.
5. Fraud found after a split is complete
If we later find that a completed split was fraudulent, for example a fake receipt or collusion, we may reverse it, refund the requester and recover the money paid out. Fraudulent accounts are closed.
6. Cash payments at partner restaurants
If you paid cash at a partner's counter and the split does not go through, contact us with your request ID. We work it out with the partner restaurant. If a refund is due, we pay it to your Easypaisa, JazzCash or bank account within 48 hours of the decision.
The requester can also do cash pickup from partner after refund is approved depending on their choice.
7. Refund timelines
- We process every refund within 48 hours of the cancellation or decision.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method you used.
- After we process it, your bank or wallet may take a few additional working days to show the money, depending on the provider.
- If you have not received a refund within 7 days of our confirmation, contact us with your request ID and we will follow it up with our payment partner.
8. Fees
- DiscountSplit's fee is a share of the saving, not of your bill. It is only taken when a split completes.
- When a refund is due, you get back the full amount you paid, including any processing fee.
9. For card owners
- Only pay at the merchant once the app shows that the requester's payment is held in escrow, or that the cash split is confirmed.
- Once the requester confirms, or 24 hours pass without a dispute, you are paid back what you paid at the merchant plus your share. The money goes to your saved Easypaisa, JazzCash or bank account.
- If the merchant did not apply the discount, report it in the app before uploading your receipt. The requester then chooses to accept the revised amounts or cancel.
10. What is not covered
DiscountSplit arranges the split and the payment. The food, goods or service you receive are sold by the merchant, so complaints about quality, portions or the merchant's own returns must be raised with the merchant under its own policy. We will still help you contact the merchant where we can.
11. How to cancel or ask for help
- Open the request in the DiscountSplit app and use Cancel request, Reject receipt or Report a problem.
- Or contact us with your request ID: hello@scepterix.com or +92 312 5646537 (phone or WhatsApp), Monday to Saturday, 9am to 7pm (PKT).
See our Contact & Complaints page for how we handle complaints.
